Immediate loading implants: a good idea?

In certain selected cases it is possible for a temporary prosthesis to be fitted onto the implant immediately after the implant has been fitted.

Immediately fitting the dental prosthesis onto the implant has the advantage for the patient that it is more comfortable because you can do without the usual prosthesis („dentures“) and gain some time. However, you need to take into account that this immediate loading method increases your risk of losing an implant and should only ever be considered if there is evidence that the patient has sufficient bone volume and that this bone is of good quality.  Therefore we nearly always recommend having the treatment done in two stages, whereby the implants are left to integrate without loading for 6 to 12 weeks (rarely more) under the stitched over gum. In the long term, this method is more likely to be successful.

I have an estimate from another dentist. Can your dentist give me a new estimate for the cost of treatment based on this?

This is only possible if you accept that your estimate for treatment costs in this case is not final. Our dentist needs to have information about the condition of your teeth and he cannot deduce this from a colleague’s estimate of treatment costs. Moreover, there are always several possibilities for carrying out an operation and our dentist may have a different procedure or prefer to do things differently to your previous dentist.

Do you offer veneers?

Yes, all our dentists provide veneers. Veneers are thin, translucent white porcelain shells that are fitted to the front side of teeth, especially the front teeth, using a special bonding material. To do this, a very tiny amount of enamel has to be removed from the surface of the teeth
